Happy Holidays 2011!

The year has been a whirlwind of new ideas, jobs, money, finances, birthdays, anniversaries, and exercise/health challenges!

In 2011, I quit my job; found a new job; started a voice-over business; and changed drama jobs. Everything was turned on its axle 180 degrees.

I started a new website in April 2011; got more VO and audio training; studied the Dave Ramsey financial fitness technique; quit Bally’s – began LA Fitness & joined Weight Watchers; had a 41st birthday; celebrated with my parent’s their 50th wedding anniversary, acted in a short film; directed performances with the MS chorus; directed student drama showcases; and got VO clients.

I’m very thankful that I changed my life to a more positive life! It takes courage and patience. Try it yourself if you need a change!

What am I doing for the holidays? Of course, working on VOs! lol I’m also resting my voice, body, and mind. I wanted to send a send-off for those who read my posts. I don’t know who you are but say hello in the comments if you’d like. Here it is! Below was from Terry Daniel called voiceoversbyterrydaniel. It’s a VO Holiday Greeting! Enjoy!

The Voice Acting Hub

A few days ago, I posted an Ad in Facebook for a day to see what results that I would get. Nada! Oh well, it was a good experiment to try being new to internet ads. Sometimes it’s good to stick your toe in the water and try very safely a new idea. Which brings me back to The Voice Acting Hub on Facebook. Since I’ve checked out this site a few times, I came across a post by Paul Strikwerda: Finding your Value as a Voice-Over – Double Dutch, dated December 22, 2011. His website is http://www.nethervoice.com. Cut and paste the link if needed. Enjoy!

Filming a Short Film

During the weekend of December 10th-11th, I shot a short film for the students and professor of The Art Institute of Atlanta. I’m not sure if I’m allowed to give the details (I know in VOs that you normally can’t); however, I play a serial mom who kills off all of my son’s girlfriends except this particular one who passes my test. It’s a black comedy and was a lot of fun. Hopefully, they will provide me my DVD as promised and I’ll post a clip on my website. It was a total blast.

Meanwhile, I’m on holiday winter break thank goodness. I had two student drama showcases, a short film that I performed in, a choral winter concert with middle school, three dress rehearsals, and a final drama production as well with the middle school drama club. That’s eight performances. So, I’m entitled to a break.

Happy Holidays to you and yours!

Kim
